I was given prescription for Folic acid, the doctor said its free for every pregnant woman. In chemistry though they asked me to pay saying prescriptions are free only after 3 months of pregnancy.Information on internet says EVERY pregnant woman has free prescription and dental care.So how is it?I am in England.
Allright, if I have the certificate, can I get the money I paid back? The problem was that the chemist did not want any proof of pregnancy from me.She simply said the pregnancy is only two months and I have to pay(doesn't matter if I have any exemption certificate). I still have the prescription paper as she sold me the same tablets over the counter as it was cheaper-though still expensive for me.Can I complain somewhere and get my money back?
yea, you get the card and its valid from conception till when your baby is predicted to be a year old - from your due date
The lady doesnt know what shes talking about!! I got my card when i was about 6 weeks pregnant and it was valid from when 'conception was predicted' as if if i had already paid for some then i could get the money back.
You definitly without a doubt should be getting them free of charge, if you have got your card i would go back to she shop that this was valid from whenever and i am entiled to it free and if its the same woman ask to talk to the manager, someone in that shop must know what their talking about!!
Dont be getting mugged off by people who havnt got a clue!!
Goodluck with this!

you usually get a materity exemtion certificate which u can carry in ur purse, but you wont get this until ur midwife has filled outthe relevent forms, but as soon as u get the certifiacte thro u will be able to cliam bk the expences, but there is nothing u can do until then im afraid, and u get the exemption until ur baby reaches the age of 1 yr old!

Wow, I have Medicaid (United States) and I don't even get FREE prescriptions and I have to jump through hoops to get referrals for other doctors other than my OB. Also, it only lasts for 60 days after my baby is born. I actually can't wait to get benefits from my new job and get regular insurance.

yes all is free until your baby is 12months old, but you need your midwife to sign the form for your exemption card, yes you can claim money back.
