I need advice on dental care.My job offers 3 types of bene.the one with most coverage is least expensive why?

Cigna requires a hmo primary dentist but it covers 100% on most care. Is having a dental primary care provider really that big of a deal. I need alot of work.

Having a dental PCP is not a big deal, as there are many dentists looking for patients in need of work.

Be very careful when choosing your policy, as different states have different ins regulations. With HMO & PPO most will pay their designated amounts without much problem as long as the dentist is in their "Network". Mississippi regulations state that you can choose your dentist regardless, however that dentist may bill you for the difference in fees & you are responsible for that amount. Also in some states the ins co may choose to pay YOU instead of the dentist which means you have to pay up front and get reimbursed especially if you choose a dentist not listed w/ the ins co. With HMO & PPO the dentist agrees to accept what ins pays & writes off the rest, so it is a great deal for the ins. co. as it sets fees & writes the checks. It saves them tons of money. Check w/ your state insurance commissioner to see how it regulates these types of plans before you commit. The less expensive plan could save you money up front, but it could also end up costing you more later. Good Luck
